April fools news report in Belgium
A French-language television channel in Belgium reported on April 1 that the Meise authorities has banned phone conversations conducted in French. Meanwhile, Michel Daerden, a transport official, said that French speaking Belgium has bought sections of highway in order to turn parts of the motorway "French". The two April fool reports underscore the tension between Flemish and French-speaking populations over linguistic dominance.
